Art Clay Silver (PMC) Basics Course
During the one day basics course you will learn a variety of techniques for working, handling, firing and polishing art clay silver. We will also cover the technical aspects of the material including how to store and reconstitute the clay and the tools and equipment you need to get started. Following the course you should be able to work independently with the silver clay using a variety of techniques. You will make 3 pieces of silver jewellery to take home with you.
Art Clay Silver (aka Precious Metal Clay) is silver particles suspended in organic binders and water formed into a clay like substance. The silver clay is extremely versatile and can be moulded, shaped, sculpted and textured like ceramic clay but on a much smaller scale. The clay is then dried and fired, the organic binders burn away leaving 99.9% fine silver which can be hallmarked. After firing the silver looks white and is then brushed (this is the magic part) and polished to the finish you require.
